Funk Advertising Wins International Pyramid Award

Funk Advertising Agency has been recognized with the highest award given in the marketing and advertising industry, The Pyramid Award.  Over the last thirteen years the company has won the prestigious award five times.  The Pyramid Award is the promotional product industry’s highest achievement, similar to the Grammy Award in music, or the Oscar in movies.  This year they were awarded a Silver Pyramid for Best Client Branding. 

Funk Advertising is owned by Rhesa Funk, the agency has customers across the United States.  Funk and members of her advertising team will travel to Las Vegas in January to be recognized during the Promotional Product Association International tradeshow and expo event, PPAI Expo 2020. The Expo is the world’s largest promotional products tradeshow.

“PPAI has over 15,000 businesses like ours within its organization, and we’re honored to be selected for the top of the heap for our creative efforts for our customers,” Funk said. “Our business is building other people’s businesses, and we’re proud and excited to be recognized for our work.”

The competition period was April 2018 to March 2019. The contest was judged during the summer, and winners were notified in late November.  Funk Advertising’s entry featured the company’s advertising and social media work for The Crazy Sister Cafe, a restaurant formerly located in Annapolis.

“Creativity and marketing effectiveness are the key to winning this much coveted award. Funk Advertising’s program delivered quantifiable results, using both promotional products and social media platforms,” said Paul Bellantone, President and CEO of PPAI. 

Funk has been in the advertising industry for over thirty years. She spent twenty years in the newspaper industry in both advertising and journalism. She formerly operated a professional speaking and sales training business.  For the last fifteen years she’s owned an advertising agency specializing in sales-increase campaigns for businesses. 405-612-1212   573-631-5661

Our journey to The Pyramid.......

In early 2019 we decided to enter the 2020 Promotional Product Association International Pyramid Contest. The Pyramid Award is the highest award given in the marketing and advertising industry for the creatively effective and financially efficient use of promotional products and other platforms of advertising. There are over 15,000 businesses like ours in the PPAI organization, but our attitude was, “If we don’t enter, we can’t win.” So – we started filling out the mountains of paperwork needed to enter. Our entry was The Crazy Sister Cafe, a business formerly located in Annapolis, MO, in regards to the advertising and social media work we did for the cafe. The contest period was April 2018 to March 2019. Our entry was due in May 2019. We entered, then we waited, as the entries are judged over the summer.

When the first envelope came in September, we held our breath – this was the envelope telling us if we were in the running for a Pyramid….or it could be a “thanks, but you didn’t win” announcement. And the envelope says….

WE ARE A NOMINEE for a PYRAMID! Soooo many entries, and just a few winners! And Funk Advertising is one of them. 1st-2nd-3rd-4th We’d be very happy with any of those. But we had a few more months to wait to find out what we had won.
